Reserve Champions for first time ever!

Congratulations to the Reserves who claimed the 2015 Reserve Championship with a 2.5 to 2.4 win over Fintona in Pomeroy.

Trailing by five points with time almost up Glenelly produced a memorable comeback to stun Fintona in the final of the Division Three Reserve Knockout. The Pearses had led for most of the game and after Mark Donnelly combined with Cathal Ledley for their side’s second goal of the game the result appeared inevitable as they led 2-4 to 0-5.

Of course Glenelly did not see it that way and driven on by Michael Nicholas and team captain Ciaran Kearney they found the net twice to edge the game by a single point.

Firstly Kevin McCullagh hit the net direct from a twenty metre free kick before Glenelly were awarded a late penalty following a foul on substitute Kevin Mc Anena. With virtually the last kick of the game corner forward Johnny Mc Cullagh stepped up to send the kick to the net and seal the most unlikely of comebacks and the win.

Jonny McCullagh scores the winning goal as Glenelly win the Reserve Championship Final

Final score: Glenelly 2-5, Fintona 2-4.
